Congratulations Kasey Williams!

"The News Tribune" 2025 Boys ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Lincoln’s Kasey Williams Named "The News Tribune" 2025 Boys Athlete of the Year

Tacoma, WA

Kasey Williams, a dynamic multi-sport standout from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, has been named The News Tribune’s 2025 Boys Athlete of the Year, a well-earned honor that recognizes his unmatched contributions to football, basketball, and track — all while maintaining a strong 3.2 GPA.

A member of the Class of 2026, Williams has established himself as one of Washington’s most elite athletes with an impressive resume across three seasons.

Football: Two-Way Star and State Finalist

As a junior, Williams played a crucial role in leading Lincoln to a 5th place finish in the WIAA 3A State Football Tournament. His individual accolades included:

  • 1st Team All-League Defensive Back
  • 2nd Team Wide Receiver

He racked up 40 tackles, 57 receptions, and 782 receiving yards, finishing #5 in 3A statewide receiving yards — further establishing his name among Washington's best.

Basketball: Leader of a Championship Run

Kasey was the only upperclassman on a young Lincoln basketball team — and he embraced the leadership role with pride and focus. His efforts led the Abes to:

  • Puget Sound League Champions
  • District Champions
  • 6th place finish in the WIAA 3A State Tournament

His dominant defensive play earned him the title of League Defensive MVP, but his greatest value came from mentoring and inspiring a rising group of young teammates.

Track & Field: Sprinting to Silver

Capping off his junior year, Williams helped Lincoln secure a 2nd place overall team finish at the WIAA 3A State Track & Field Championships, earning 2× state titles in the:

  • 4x100 meter relay
  • 4x400 meter relay

His speed and strength have not only translated to podium finishes but also proven him to be one of the top sprinters in the region.

College Offer: A Bright Future

Kasey’s talents have drawn attention from the collegiate level, with his first offer coming from the University of Puget Sound. As he heads into his senior year, more opportunities are sure to follow for this well-rounded and hardworking student-athlete.

A Champion in Every Way

Whether locking down receivers, racing past defenders, mentoring younger teammates, or anchoring championship relays, Kasey Williams embodies what it means to be an all-around athlete and community leader.

Tacoma, Lincoln High School, and the state of Washington salute this rising star. His journey is just beginning — and the future looks unstoppable.

Congratulations, Kasey Williams — The News Tribune’s 2025 Boys Athlete of the Year!
